Malaria Disease is common in Kirehe District as well as other transmitted diseases like Diarrhea, infections of the lower respiratory tracts, intestinal parasites, infections of the higher respiratory tracts, Trauma, gynecological infections and contagious infections.

The District health department has been doing every thing possible to reduce on the spread of transmittable diseases like distributing Mosquito nets, sensitizing people to drink boiled water and so forth.

The long distances covered by the patients to reach Health Centre averages 7 km and the District has managed to put up health centers to all sectors. To fight against morbidity and mortality in Kirehe District, adhesion to mutual health insurance was initiated and today around 61% of all households in the district are affiliated.

In its plans to avail its population with clean drinking water Kirehe District intends to extend piped water to all sectors and especially to schools, hospitals and trading centers.
